Andy Bonsall

Andy Bonsall is a co-founder and Managing Partner of Counteract, a specialist venture capital firm focused entirely on supporting early-stage businesses aiming to remove and durably store atmospheric CO2 and other greenhouse gases at gigaton scale. 

Originally trained as an engineer, Andy then worked in startups and growth businesses for many years across telecoms, financial services and, most recently, as a co-founder of Essence, which he helped grow into the world's largest independent digital media agency at the time of its sale to WPP in 2015.  After this he worked as an investor and mentor to founders and early stage businesses before focusing this experience into making a difference to the climate, our biggest emergency, and launching Counteract in 2020. 

Andy has lived and worked in London, New York and Singapore but is now finished with cities and lives in the English countryside, spending as much time outside - on foot or on a bike - as possible.
