Peter Metcalfe

Peter’s career spans over 35 years in strategic economic development, both at national and state levels, where he has demonstrated exceptional skill in public policy development, trade and market access, and the design and implementation of complex agricultural economic programs. Before joining the Department of Agriculture and Food WA, Peter managed the family farms in the northern wheatbelt of Western Australia, providing him with firsthand insights into the challenges and opportunities in the primary production sector.

During his tenure with the Department of Agriculture, Peter held significant leadership positions, including 8.5 years as Executive Director and 10 years as CEO of a Western Australian Agricultural Authority entity. Since retiring in 2018, he has continued to contribute to the agricultural and AgTech sectors as Chair of two AgTech startups, Director and Chair of an agribusiness consulting company, and Independent Chair of a Board at Curtin University. 

Peter’s experience in CEO and Board-level roles, combined with his extensive network of industry and government contacts, has established him as a trusted leader capable of driving innovation and credibility in early-stage enterprises. His proven track record in founding and growing successful companies in the primary production sector further underscores his ability to deliver impactful results. 

As COO, Peter leverages his unique combination of expertise, strategic insight, and leadership to support InterEarth’s mission of advancing sustainable carbon dioxide removal technologies and solutions. 

Peter is married with four children, he loves kayaking, and touring Africa, taking wildlife photos and camping.
